a few hauntings, pt. 1

1999 was the year of the hauntings. house on haunted hill and the haunting(based on shirley jackson's haunting of hill house and renamed for the pictures because of the aforementioned movie).

today, we'll start off with the haunting of hill house.

i asked about it for the shining and i'll ask again, why was this book so scary? seriously, what did i miss? she just runs her car into a tree. there's nothing really scary about that.

the movie was WAY better. guess i'll have to review that next!

random program idea

i read a lot. i mean a lot. so i was just thinking that a fun year long(calendar or school) program would be to see how many books people read in a year at their age/grade level and above. basically, the only books that would count for adults would be adult books. sorry, no stories you read to your kid.

for example, i read nine books last month alone. my average is six a month.

okay, anywho. you could give prizes every month for most books read in different categories, like children, teens, adults, etc. and then, at the end of the year awards for who read the most books. these can be maybe coupons to a bookstore(try used and local especially), movies, books, and more.

just something fun to keep people in the library.

now what?

i'm debating what to do with this blog now that i'm finished with the 23 things. i figure i'll go ahead and keep updating, i just don't know what about or when. i do have some ideas.

1.)book reviews- pretty self explanatory. probably a mix of old stuff that i'm reading, series, and new stuff.
2.)website reviews- again, self explanatory. i'm thinking of also starting a delicious account to store a list of links.
3.)random thoughts about being a librarian and libraries in general.
4.)and yes, i will talk about customers. this will include rants and how people can be lazy and don't want to look and are blind. believe me, there's been more than once when a person can't find the book they're looking for and make us find it or can't read signs. you're in a library- READ!!!!!!!!!!

i think that will keep me busy for awhile.
