random notes from the library

Thought I'd come back for a bit and write something. So, here's a few random occurences from your local library.

1.) I was turning off a frozen computer, it sounded like a jet engine, and then smoke starting coming out. Ah, life in the smoking section.

2.) The other day, there were these two women in line for the computer reservation station. One must have cut in front of the other because all of a sudden, they were cussing each other out. And, both of them had kids! Really interesting.

3.) A lady said I was a genius because last week, I found a bunch of book titles for here and this week, I found a phone number where she could get ahold of someone who knows where her grandson is.

4.) I found a really cool story about a patron at one of the other branches. I delted the link, but it was a cool story.

random program idea

i read a lot. i mean a lot. so i was just thinking that a fun year long(calendar or school) program would be to see how many books people read in a year at their age/grade level and above. basically, the only books that would count for adults would be adult books. sorry, no stories you read to your kid.

for example, i read nine books last month alone. my average is six a month.

okay, anywho. you could give prizes every month for most books read in different categories, like children, teens, adults, etc. and then, at the end of the year awards for who read the most books. these can be maybe coupons to a bookstore(try used and local especially), movies, books, and more.

just something fun to keep people in the library.

don't gripe at the staff for your incompetence and illiteracy!!!!!

please read the sign people! and listen!

people should really respect the staff and don't gripe at us when we give you the information you need. and please, learn how to look for things by yourself!

just deal and don't yell!

ahh, just another day at public library.

now what?

i'm debating what to do with this blog now that i'm finished with the 23 things. i figure i'll go ahead and keep updating, i just don't know what about or when. i do have some ideas.

1.)book reviews- pretty self explanatory. probably a mix of old stuff that i'm reading, series, and new stuff.
2.)website reviews- again, self explanatory. i'm thinking of also starting a delicious account to store a list of links.
3.)random thoughts about being a librarian and libraries in general.
4.)and yes, i will talk about customers. this will include rants and how people can be lazy and don't want to look and are blind. believe me, there's been more than once when a person can't find the book they're looking for and make us find it or can't read signs. you're in a library- READ!!!!!!!!!!

i think that will keep me busy for awhile.

i totally don't know if i did all 23 of the 23 things, but that's okay. i at least tried and i'm a little more informed. it's all pretty much a learning experience anyway. there were definately some things i didn't really like or get the point of or even the point of doing other than to know it's there and i probably won't use them anymore. but, i guess it's good to know i tried and have used it if anyone ever asks.

i'm also slightly addicted to ning and flickr sudoku.

well, it's been a great experience and i hope i can use some things for future jobs and in future libraries that i may be in.

this one was okay. i wasn't truly impressed. not yet anyway. i might be if i play around with it some more. i think it could possibly be a useful too.

#7- rss feed

personally, i still don't get it. it's probably just me. but, i seriously just don't get this one. i think i'll just have to keep learning.
